Calpe was traditionally an agricultural town, producing almonds, raisins, and carob. Its economy also relied on fishing and salt extraction from its salt flats, which today have become a natural park.
The Parish Church Dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows is located in the heart of the old town. Built between 1973 and 1975, it features predominantly modern and solid architectural forms. Attached to the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Snows is the Old Church, which serves as a chapel and is the only example of Gothic-Mudejar architecture in the Valencian Community.
The Peñón de Ifach, declared a Natural Park in 1987, is home to unique ecological treasures, such as the Ifach carnation. Visitors can hike to the summit on guided tours, where the Nature Classroom provides detailed insights into Calpe’s rich fauna and flora.
Additionally, Calpe preserves its historical heritage in the Torreón de la Peça and its ancient walls. Its cobblestone streets, filled with color and tradition, lead to stunning beaches with crystal-clear waters, such as La Fossa and Arenal-Bol, making this destination a perfect place to enjoy both history and nature.
